In our monthly Hints and Tips column this month we are looking at how we can use deep dish dies with Powertex
Deep dish dies are designed to cut through thicker mediums and the best known brand is the Sizzix Bigz dies but companies such as Tonic are bringing out wafer thin mixed media dies which cut similar thickness materials.
They are perfect for cutting greyboard, fabrics and even material which has been covered in Powertex. This makes it perfect for pre-cutting embellishments.
Traditionally the shapes of these dies have been quite simple but as the technology of die manufacture becomes more sophisticated, especially with the wafer thin mixed media dies you can cut even complex words out of thick material.
This has been cut with greyboard, a thick cardstock usually about 1200gsm so 4 to 5 times as thick as normal cardstock makes it great for embellishments such as cogs.
But as well as denim, I find it cuts T-Shirt material very well making it perfect for sculpting shapes out of Powertex.
How will you use your deep dish dies to create with Powertex?
