Black Powertex is another great colour for beginners as it covers any pattern in the material and is a great base for pigments.

Although Bronze and Ivory Powertex are my “go to” colours, I love Black Powertex when I want a striking background.

Black powertex is a strong base for pigments, especially the pearl and metallic colours. It also helps to add the white pigment to the powercolour pigments to make them completely opaque.

I also like to add metallic pigments to Black Powertex which adds a subtle hint to your projects.

I also often mix Black Powertex with embellishments made of other colours, such as red and green as they make those colours pop.
