Continuing our Summer Series of Mini Works of Art, this week foam flowers take centre stage.

Back in April, the Secret Art Box, had a range of flowers to use including lace motifs and foam flowers.

I am also playing with embossing folders, as it’s a great way to add texture to small areas without adding bulk. There will be more about this in our August hints and tips column.

I went for a monochrome look, so coloured everything with Terracotta Powertex, the foam flowers need a good coat to stay covered.

The terracotta doesn’t completely cover dark like the deep  blue ricrac ribbon but they can be covered  in pigments to blend in.

I covered the whole tag in 4 layers of pigments –  Rose, a Rose and White mix, Metallic Red and finally a dusting of light gold. I think I may play with the colours some more.
