2025 – Wabi Sabi – Embracing Imperfections

This year, I have chosen a phrase instead of a word of the year, and it’s “Wabi Sabi”

Sometimes referred to as the art of “finding beauty in imperfections,” the  philosophy of “Wabi Sabi” goes much wider than that and challenges you to let go of the need to be perfect and to embrace what you create.

Embrace imperfections and nature

Some of the elements behind the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, which I hope to embrace in 2025 include

  • Accepting the imperfections in myself and the world around me…. And the fact we are all getting older!
  • Appreciating the transience of things,  how things change, and evolve.
  • Connecting more with nature.
  • Savouring and living in the present moment.
  • Embracing my personal story and learn from it.

On the last Wednesday of every month, I will be sharing what I’ve learnt about Wabi Sabi and how it’s impacted my creative journey.

You will also see elements built into our 2025 classes as we encourage each other to create and learn.

I wish you all a happy, creative and peaceful 2025.

What will you create?
