How We Handle Your Personal Information

We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This notice explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you interact with us.

Portberry Crafts is a Trading Name of Portberry Consulting and we are registered with the ICO as a “Data Controller” number – ZB894459

As a Data Controller we are responsible to deciding what personal data we collect from you “the Data Subject” and what we do with it (“processing”).

What Information We Collect

We collect the following types of personal information:

  • Your name and email address, including the email address you use for Paypal. If you are under the age of 18 we will also collect the name and contact number of a carer in the event of an emergency.
  • We DO NOT use tracking cookies on our website (https://portberry-crafts.blog/)

Why We Collect Your Information and how we use it

For all the personal information we collect, we need a reason to do this, this is called the “lawful basis”.

  • Marketing and Publicity (lawful basis – Consent)

We will only contact you for marketing purposes including updates on classes and offers and specials from Powertex UK if you give us permission to use your name and email address.

You can withdraw your consent at any time and we will delete your information within 24hrs and we will write to you to confirm that this has been completed

  • Publishing Testimonials (lawful basis – Consent)

We will only use your first name on testimonies if you give us permission to use a testimony about the company

You can withdraw your consent at any time and we will delete your information within 24hrs and we will write to you to confirm that this has been completed

  • Contact Details for Minors (lawful basis – Legitimate Interest)

We will ask you to provide a telephone number for a carer for any unaccompanied child attending our courses. This is to ensure we can react quickly in the event of an emergency.


This number will be deleted immediately after the class has been completed.

Legitimate Interest means that we are collecting this information because it helps us run our course better and we have a completed a Legitimate Interest Assessment which is available if you wish to see a copy by emailing emma.wharram@portberry-consulting.co.uk

  • Payment and Delivery of Course (lawful basis – Contract)

We will ask you to provide your name and email address to send you payment details when you request a class. This will be in the form of either a PayPal request or a Monzo Payment Request depending on the class and service you are asking us to provide for you.

We keep this information for 6 years for accounting purposes and will delete records after this. We do not store any payment details such as your back account details or your credit cards as we use third party payment partners

We need this information to form a contract with you to provide a service, which is why we use the contractual lawful basis

How We Share Your Information

Your email address will be processed by PayPal or Monzo for the purpose of processing payment details but will not be store by these third parties once the processing has been completed.

We do not share your information with other third parties such as Powertex UK but may occasionally send you emails with details of offers from Powertex UK which we think may be of interest, you will retain the decision about whether to sign up for these offers

How We Store Your Information

All personal data is stored securely in Google Drive in a password protected file, which is only accessible by Emma Wharram, the Portberry Crafts lead.

Portberry Consult has Cyber Essentials as well as being signed up for the Southwest Cyber Resilience Centre to ensure that the most up to date security controls are used in all our documents.

Your Rights

You have rights regarding your personal information. These include:

  • Accessing the data we have about you.
  • Correcting inaccuracies in your information.
  • Requesting that we delete your information.
  • Withdrawing consent for certain uses of your information, such as marketing and testimonies
