The importance of play

This weekend for the first time in ages, I’m just playing with Powertex.

I have a canvas, a papier-mâché mask that Mr Portberry Crafts gave me for Christmas and some muslin cloth, a gift from my friend Jo at FloralStream crafts…. and my core Powertex products.

I have no plan, I thought I may go down the EasyStructure, Rice Paper route but, I’ve had so much fun just playing with Stone Art, although there is EasyStructure on canvas in places.

I’m also using my “used” Stone Art bag, which is where I keep all the bits of Stone Art that I brush off other projects. This means that its not as smooth as new Stone Art and you get more texture.

This weekend has reminded me that some times we just need to play. To grab a couple of items and just see where the mood takes  you.

The need to strive for perfection can stop us being creative and can cause stress and anxiety, especially when we compare ourselves to others. We need to let go of this negativity and learn to play again, to explore where our Creativity will take us.

I’ve still got a way to go with this canvas and I don’t have a vision of what this may end up like but I’m learningto let go of the need to knowwhat the finished project will be. I’ll share my progress and the lessons Ive learnt on the way.

What will you create?
