Welcome to our Advent Calendar Countdown for 2024, What has Houston got in store today?

I genuinely don’t know what’s in a box until I open them, Box 2 feels heavy and has a rattle and a sort of Shush-y noise.

Oh, I didn’t expect this, a brand new product on day 2 – a “Santa’s Soot” sized pot of Garden Grit

So what is Garden Grit? Well, it is new to me, but I do know that Powertex UK have recently expanded their range of 3D Sands and Balls to introduce a wider range of texture we can use for mixed media.
Garden Grit has a fine but rough texture, somewhere between the Coarse Sand and small balls in texture. It is a rich onyx black in colour.

Now I know some of you are nervous when we chat about “Mixed Media” but it’s just simple as using more than one material in your art. So if you can count Powertex as one product and you use it with corrugated card and material to create a project, tgen you are a mixed media artist!
This is my seascape class, which we will be offering again in 2025. It uses lots of different Powertex products, including a wide range of 3D Sand and Balls to add texture and I can’t wait to add some Garden Grit into my canvas.
What will you create?
