This year Powertex UK launched its first Luxury Advent Calendar, packed with 24 days of goodies. We have had a box of treasure to add details to our projects so what do we have today?

It’s a tub of Green Bister crystals. You can do everything you can do with ready made Bister and so much more. Bister is coloured Walnut Ink, and if you didn’t already know, walnut ink is one of the most “light stable” or “light fast” inks around (which means it lasts along time, so long that it is used by Parliament to write laws for the official records. So when you hear the phrase Black Letter Law – remember the black letters are formed by Walnut Ink).

Powertex Bisters give an earthy muted translucent colour which adds shade and and depth to your project. It can be sprayed on projects like the ready made Bister but with the crystals you can add them to Transparent Powertex to give it a coloured sheen or sprinkle them on to a project where they melt to form texture in the Powertex.

When Bister is sprayed into thick layers of Powertex and then dried with a heat gun or hair dryer it also produces beautiful cracks.

Bister works best on lighter colour Powertex, where you can see the cracks or colour. Bister is not water-proof or weather-proof, so you will need to cover projects designed for the outside in a layer of varnish to seal it.
