EasyStructure is my favourite Powertex Products, OK one of my main favourites and great for adding texture to a range of products
This week Michele introduced us to EasyStructure and the new Powertex Product – a Secret Art Loft pigment called Moonshine.
If you have been to any of our Mixed Media Classes you will be familiar with the thick white paste that is EasyStructure, which I use often as my first layer of mixed media projects. Now I have tried a lot of texture pastes over the years and EasyStructure is by far my favourite. It is thick, quick drying and dries to a beautiful chalky texture.

As you can see it works in a range of stencils, from big details to very fine prints and as you can also see it keeps it shape even when I smudge a stencil, which I often to.
You can also spread it on to a project directly and then use jar lids, cups, pen lids, what ever you have to had to print into the texture paste. Here I have stamped into the project and then spritzed it with Powertex Liquid Acrylic Inks to let it pool.

The third thing you can do is add to it, You can add any Powertex pigment to it give it a sheen – check out todays Powertex Unleased for more details or you can add Powertex Sand and 3D balls to give it even more texture. You can see it here compared with the original EasyStructure.

Hints and Tips for EasyStructure
(1) You can use it directly on to your base or paint a layer of Powertex first
(2) Use a little bit at a time and remember to keep the lid on tightly as once it has dried out – that’s it.
(3) Use a plastic palette knife as EasyStructure dries rock solid and will stick to your metal ones.
(4) You don’t need to use a stencil but wash it thoroughly if you do.
(5) Scrape it on like you would butter toast, hold the palette knife in the same way that you would hold a knife for buttering toast
(6) Scrape from left to right if you are right handed and the opposite way for left handed. You are less likely to get it on your clothes, your hands, your arms then on your top and in your mug that way… trust me on this one.
(7) If you are using a stencil make sure it is fixed in place so it doesn’t smudge. Not the end of the world if it does smudge as its all texture.
(8) You can cover it in Powertex, Pigment or inks and paints. Give it play and see what textures and effects you like.
Michele also launched a new product, a pigment called Moonshine which I haven’t seen in real life but is a grey shimmery pigment powder which is lighter than Black Magic and darker than silver and is perfect for your halloween projects. Anyone who has booked a class with us in October will be getting a sample pot of it free to try at home.
AND if you buy the Gothic Kit below this weekend at the bargain price of £29.99 you will also be entered into a draw for a free MDF Caddy, perfect for carrying around your Powertex products
